CERT and FEMA resources

Just some information that may help site members with resources in their communities. The CERT program stresses local safety after a disaster starting with your own family and neighbors. I have found in my area (SE LA county, CA) that most 1st responders appreciate hams who are involved in their CERT programs. This could also be a good missionary tool to expose the community to the preparedness and emergency response.
Another point of interest is the FEMA on line training courses. In CA the state is requiring any disaster responders have taken FEMA IS-100, 200, 700 and 800 courses, I do not know the rules for other states. The courses are not that hard and when you complete the lesson your get to print out a neat looking certificate.
