LDS Hams Field Day?

(1/2) > >>

wb7sgl:
I am thinking it might be fun to put together a field day for LDS Hams.

What limitations would be reasonable for an event?
Allow all wireless modes and frequencies?
Allow IRLP and/or Echolink?

Any other considerations we should weigh?

Thanks!

It would work if we could get enough Mormon Hams involved.  It could also be a good chance to show off our abilities and get others interested.

Is this still in the works?

AJ5BS:
This is something we need to work on for 2011. WE do not need to have it on Field Day weekend. We can have it anytime we want. I will work with some others who are interested. email me at my call @arrl.net

I am setting up a Deland Florida Stake Field Day during our Stake Fugal Fair May 21, 2011.  The Goals are as follows:
- Establish communications between all Wards on simplex.
- Establish communications with the Deland Stake and Orlando Bishop Storehouse.
- Establish communications with the Southeast & Northeast ERC Nets.
- Contact as many other LDS Hams as possible.
- Build interest in Ham Radio with Local Membership.

The Stake will have Family Emergency Preparedness/Communications, Gardening, Budgeting, etc. booths setup at the Stake Center.

Having lost communications for 2 weeks during the 2004 Hurricanes and avoiding several near misses in 2010, we want to be better prepared.

I would like to invite all those Hams, Wards & Stakes that are interested to Join us to improve our ability to communicate during emergencies.

I will be providing the HF frequencies we will be using in the next few weeks.

Thanks for your help.
