Hello, I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I am the Cheyenne Stake Communications specialist and am in the process of putting together our emergency communications plan. One of our top priorities is being able to communicate with other Stakes. Is anyone in Denver up for some testing? I have a J Pole in my attic along with a Yagi. I am able to key up repeaters in Denver so I'm thinking communication between Cheyenne and Denver on 2 meters is definitely doable.--Scott

Hi Scott!Welcome to LDS Hams!I am down in the Chatfield Ward, Columbine Stake now. I was up in the Lakewood Stake until about a month ago when I purchased a home.I know the Store House is working on 2-way comms with Cheyenne. They've received word that they're able to be heard in Cheyenne but I guess they've not heard from anyone yet. Their net is the first Sunday of the month at about 8PM (usually a few minutes later...) on 147.495mhz Simplex.I know Brant Zirker - KC0VTU - is running a better setup than myself. I have a VX6R running into a 30W amp with an X50N omni. Not the best setup for long distance! But I would love to make a stout yagi that might get me enough RF to and from Cheyenne.We're hoping to get a weekly chew the fat session running on Wed. evenings about 9PM. How did you session go yesterday? I knew I should have checked back on the board sooner, sorry I missed it. I will do my best to catch next weeks.I've been working a bit with Don and Angee on the communications plan here in Cheyenne. We did some testing about a week ago with some success. I was using a 60 mobile and a Arrow Solid Element Yagi up in my attic. They were unable to hear me but there was another member that happened to be listening to the frequency and they caught me. I was able to get into the 145.145 repeater with Don though so that was encouraging.Next up is the NVIS testing! I've been talking with a guy 35mi SE of Denver who is ready to do some testing. He is a member of a ARES/RACES group in the area. They've had good success with NVIS thus far and I think it may be out best bet for reliable communications up to 300 miles or so.--Scott
